Goth Parenting: The Dark Joys of Raising Baby Bats is not a manual. No feeding schedules, no screen-time guilt, no "choosing the right preschool." It's a coffee-table charmer — graphic-novel style, with killer art on one page and a punchy, quirky line on the next. You can devour it in an afternoon.

Full disclosure: my coworkers have called me "goth mom era" (I'm remote, so I assume it's the dark lipstick doing double duty as under-eye camouflage). I wouldn't fully claim the label, and yeah, a couple references flew over my head. Didn't matter. It's clever, it's funny, and you absolutely do not have to be goth to love it.

Here's why it works: being a mom means something the second you say it out loud. A whole framework snaps into place around you, and everything you do gets measured against it. I'm a good mom. I also skateboard, read too many vampire books, do aerial acrobatics, and wear a lot of black. Would you clock me as a mom? Probably not. That's exactly the point. This isn't your live-laugh-love shelf decor — it's black hearts, bat wings, and barrier-breaking. It's refreshing to see parents who aren't the pink-and-blue cookie-cutter default, owning their path instead of shuffling down the well-worn one.

Highly recommend as a gift for new parents, baby showers, or yourself (treat yo self). And no shade to the classic path — you do you. This one's just for those of us who do it in eyeliner.
